Dear Customers,

Like all businesses within the UK and indeed, worldwide, we are closely monitoring the impact that COVID-19 is having on our business, our colleagues, customers and business partners.

We are very much aware and respectful of the Government’s message that all UK citizens and businesses must play their part to protect the most vulnerable in our society and to ensure that the NHS has the ability to care for the inevitable, increased number of patients that will be affected by the virus in the coming days and weeks.

For these reasons, we have taken the decision to close all JT Hughes Showrooms in Shrewsbury, Telford and Newtown, from the close of business today, Tuesday 24th March 2020 

Our Service workshops are also temporarily closed. You can schedule a service or MOT online for a future available date, and our service advisors will confirm your preferred date when we re-open.

MOT Notice: All cars, vans and motorcycles which usually would require an MOT test will be given a six-month exemption from MOT testing from 30th March. Your vehicle must be kept in a roadworthy condition, you can be prosecuted for driving an unsafe vehicle. 

The safety and wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and their families, will always come first. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding on this matter.

Due to COVID – 19 we are closing our Sales departments temporarily on Sundays
We have also suspended wash and vac service for all customers to avoid the congregation of individuals.

With recent events and serious concerns regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) top of mind, we recognize our responsibility to share the steps we’re taking at our dealerships to help keep you, our employees, and our community safe and healthy.

Following the statement from the Prime Minister yesterday, we are taking the Government’s advice very seriously and have implemented changes across our dealerships in Shrewsbury, Telford and Newtown to ensure the health and safety of our customers and employees. 

First and foremost, we are in the business of serving people, and amid this outbreak, it is important to us that we allow as much flexibility for our customers who are servicing or purchasing a vehicle. In addition, we have added at-home services for your convenience that include:

  • You can book your car service online without the need to visit our dealerships
  • Should you be concerned about dropping your car in for a service, we can arrange to pick up your vehicle and drop it back to your house. (Please be patient as demand will be high)
  • Your vehicle high-touch areas (steering wheels, gear sticks, door handles inside and outside, paddle shifts, car keys or starting buttons) will be expertly sanitised once your car service is complete and returned to you
  • Should you be in the process of buying a new or used vehicle, all our vehicles can be seen on our website, with full walk-around videos. 
  • You can reserve a used car online to secure the vehicle subject to agreeing terms
  • Flexible and transparent negotiation of a new or used vehicle purchase from the comfort of your own home
  • Schedule an at-home test drive. Please contact us to arrange a home demonstration

NHS Advice

We advise all our visitors to read the NHS advice website, which includes valuable information about how to avoid catching and spreading COVID-19. Should you believe that you have the virus, their advice is to self-isolate and call 111.
We have more than adequate supplies of hand-wash, soap and water for you to keep your hands clean and have bins all around site for the disposal of any tissues for coughs and sneezes.

If you have your own bottle of hand-sanitiser, please bring it with you.

We do have toilet paper on-site for our own facilities. Please use only as required for the benefit of all.

Our staff will not be offended should you wish to avoid or decline any shaking of hands as a greeting.

It is also critical to give you as much information as possible about the procedures we follow concerning our sanitary environment.

We have been in business since 1971 and have always upheld the highest standards.

Our showrooms and vehicles are cleaned and sanitized daily as part of our normal course of business.

Over the past few weeks, we have stepped up the frequency of vigorous disinfecting, especially in high-use areas, in addition to adding resources like hand-sanitizer throughout our dealerships in Shrewsbury, Telford and Newtown.

We’re also ensuring our employees have the information they need to stay healthy or stay home if they aren’t feeling well. 

All of these practices and our business decisions are informed by guidance from the UK  government along with advice from our local health authority.

Took my CRV into the Newtown showroom today (17/03/20) the service advisor Rhiannon Dayman couldn't have been more helpful both my and the courtesy car I was provided with were sanitised and wipes were provided at the reception desk at all times. Well done Newtown Honda.
