Mitsubishi Returns to JT Hughes: What It Means for Shropshire Drivers

We are back.

JT Hughes is now the official Mitsubishi franchise dealer for Shropshire and Mid Wales. Mitsubishi Motors has returned to the UK, and we are proud to confirm that the franchise is back where it belongs, right here with us in Shrewsbury.

Mitsubishi returns to JT Hughes Shrewsbury

The brand-new Mitsubishi showroom is now open at Unit 1 Civic Park, Vanguard Way, Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury, SY1 3TH. The All-New Mitsubishi L200, Mitsubishi’s flagship pick-up, has arrived at the dealership. The All-New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, a seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, is arriving in June.

This is big news for Shropshire. And if you are a JT Hughes customer, it is news we have been looking forward to sharing for a long time.

Here is what is coming, why this moment matters, and what it means for you.

Why This Homecoming Matters

This is not a cold start. When Mitsubishi paused UK sales in 2021, we made a decision that turned out to matter a great deal. We kept our Mitsubishi Approved Service Centres at our Newtown and Telford branches open. Our technicians stayed trained. Our diagnostic equipment stayed calibrated. The parts kept coming in.

If you brought your L200 or your Outlander to us last year, or the year before that, or any year since 2021, the person who worked on it was the same manufacturer-trained technician who had always worked on it. We never stopped servicing Mitsubishi vehicles for owners across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

That commitment is a big part of why Mitsubishi chose JT Hughes again as their dealership in Shropshire. Not just servicing. Sales too. The full franchise, restored.

Customers tell us they noticed. They noticed we were still there. And now there is a new showroom, new vehicles, and a full manufacturer partnership to show for it.

The Launch Range

Mitsubishi has returned to the UK with two new models. The L200 is at the dealership now. The Outlander PHEV is arriving in June. Both are new from the ground up. Both are vehicles we know well from the global lineup, and both are built for the kind of driving our customers actually do.

The All-New Mitsubishi L200

The All-New Mitsubishi L200

This is Mitsubishi’s flagship. And for anyone who works the land, tows heavy loads, or needs a vehicle that earns its keep every single day, the new Mitsubishi L200 is the one to pay attention to.

Our technicians have worked on every generation of L200 that has come through our workshops in Newtown and Telford. The reputation is earned. Farmers across Shropshire trust it. Tradespeople trust it. The new model has been built to extend that trust.

What you get

Mitsubishi L200 off-road capability

A 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. 3.5-tonne towing capacity. Over 1,000kg payload. If you are pulling a livestock trailer up a Shropshire lane or hauling materials to a site in Mid Wales, this is what that spec means in practice: it will not struggle.

Mitsubishi L200 loadbed capacity

The Barbarian trim adds Super Select 4WD-II, which gives you the option to switch between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive on the move. No stopping. No getting out.

Every L200 comes with a five-year warranty and five years of breakdown assistance. That is manufacturer-backed, not an aftermarket add-on.

Two variants, and the tax question matters

The L200 comes in two variants. A passenger variant from £36,295 plus VAT and a commercial variant from £37,495 plus VAT.

The commercial variant is a dedicated two-seater. And that distinction is not cosmetic. It qualifies as plant and machinery for capital allowance purposes, which means 100% first-year write-off. It also qualifies for flat-rate Benefit in Kind.

If you run a farm, a building firm, a landscaping business, or any operation where vehicles are a genuine business tool, the commercial L200 is worth a conversation with your accountant before you do anything else. The tax treatment alone can change the real-world cost significantly.

What we tell customers in this situation is simple. Come into our Shrewsbury showroom, talk to us about which variant fits your use case, and then take the figures to your accountant. We have seen plenty of business owners choose the commercial variant once they see what it does to their tax position.

Two trims

Mitsubishi L200 interior

Titan. The working spec. Everything you need, nothing you do not.

Barbarian. The full specification. Super Select 4WD-II, premium interior, the complete package for anyone who wants their work vehicle to feel like more than a work vehicle.

The All-New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Arriving June 2026 at our Shrewsbury showroom.

The All-New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

The Outlander has always been the one families gravitate towards. The new model, arriving at our Shrewsbury showroom in June, takes that further.

This is a plug-in hybrid SUV with a 2.4-litre petrol engine and both front and rear electric motors. Combined output is over 300bhp. Claimed range is over 500 miles. It charges at home or at public chargers, and for the daily school run and commute, many drivers will barely touch the petrol.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV on the road

For the first time, the Outlander is available with seven seats. If you have been waiting for a Mitsubishi that fits the whole family without making someone sit in the boot, this is it.

The tech

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV centre console

Head-up display. 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Wireless phone charging. Heated and ventilated front seats with massage function. S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) that reads the road surface and adjusts torque distribution automatically.

This is not a stripped-back eco vehicle. It is a full-size, premium SUV that happens to run on a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Two trims

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV premium interior

Nativa. Seven seats. The family configuration. From £46,995 OTR.

Diamond. Five seats with the full premium interior. Every feature Mitsubishi makes for this model, fitted as standard.

Who this is for

Families who want space, capability, and lower running costs without giving up comfort. Drivers who tow caravans or horse boxes and want the confidence of all-wheel drive. Anyone who has been looking at premium SUVs and wondering whether they really need to spend £60,000 or more.

The Outlander PHEV has always competed above its price point. The new model continues that.

What This Means If You Already Own a Mitsubishi

If you have been bringing your Mitsubishi to us at Newtown or Telford for servicing since the UK withdrawal, nothing changes on the service side. Same technicians. Same expertise. Same Mitsubishi service standards.

What does change is your options when the time comes to replace it.

Until now, if you wanted to stay with Mitsubishi, you were looking at used stock. Now you can walk into our Mitsubishi dealership in Shrewsbury and order a brand-new one, with full manufacturer warranty, from the team that has been looking after your current one all along.

That is the bit that matters. You are not starting a new relationship with a new dealer. You are continuing one that never stopped.

What This Means If You Are New to Mitsubishi

You get a manufacturer-trained team with five years of unbroken Mitsubishi servicing experience across our Newtown and Telford branches, a full franchise dealership, and two vehicles that are genuinely new to the UK market.

You also get the backing of a brand that has been building 4x4s and pickup trucks longer than most manufacturers have existed. Mitsubishi’s heritage in this space is not marketing. It is engineering history.

The UK return is being supported through the official Mitsubishi Motors UK website, and we are the local franchise for Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Meet the Team

A franchise is only as good as the people behind it. The team at JT Hughes Shrewsbury Mitsubishi are not strangers to the brand. Many have been looking after Mitsubishi vehicles across the JT Hughes group for years, and they are bringing that experience to the new Shrewsbury showroom.

When you walk in, these are the people you will be talking to.

Come and See Them

The L200 is at the dealership now. The Outlander PHEV arrives in June.

You can book a test drive, register your interest, or simply come and talk to us at our Mitsubishi showroom at Unit 1 Civic Park, Vanguard Way, Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury, SY1 3TH. Call us on 01743 299666.

If you have questions about the L200 commercial variant and its tax position, bring them. If you want to compare the Outlander PHEV trims, we will walk you through both. If you just want to see what Mitsubishi has been building while they have been away, the kettle is always on.

Mitsubishi is back in Shropshire. We are the reason it never really left.

And now there are new vehicles to prove it.
