Our pledge - John Hughes , MD

Hi, I'm John Hughes and I would like to welcome you to our website. JT Hughes is a local company with a proud history of serving the motoring community of Shropshire and Mid Wales. When Terry Hughes my father opened his first dealership in 1972 he had no turnover or profit targets, nor did he have aspirations to be the biggest.

What he did have was a goal to be the best. In retrospect, what I believe he meant as ‘the best’ was that our customers are the reason for our existence. With the support of his family, he modernised the business and built a new car showroom.

In 1975, the business became a dealership with the adoption of a Honda franchise, becoming one of the first in the country to adopt a Japanese motoring brand. Continued success led to dealerships opening at Oswestry, Newtown, Telford and Shrewsbury. Other premier brands have been added to the franchise portfolio over the years. JT Hughes is now an authorised dealer for Honda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Kia in Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Our pledge to you is simple:

JT Hughes is committed to getting the basics right and to give you the best car buying and after-sales service you deserve. We continue to invest in purpose-built showrooms and focus all our efforts on delivering choice, quality, reliability, performance, value for money and above all service.

We also continue to improve our administration and align our systems to our customers in order to invest in a customer centric organisation, making our relationship with you more harmonious and being more proactive about customer complaints and learning from our mistakes.

Thank you for visiting our website.

I purchased a Kia Sportage from your Newtown Branch in December 2022. Registration number LG20 FMY and bought this vehicle because of the warranty on it. I have contacted your Newtown branch due to a fault on one of the cigarette inputs the one on the passenger seat. This is the one you are advised to use when using the tyre inflation kit. I paid for this vehicle outright in cash and part exchange. When I got in touch with your Newtown Branch about this fault I was informed that it would cost me at least £120 if it was damaged by myself but maybe nothing. I refute this afterall having paid this much outright for the vehicle. I love this car and I am more than happy with it apart from this fault. I am not a girl racer and want this to be a lifelong car fir me due to my age. I will be more than happy to discuss this further with you as I am quite disappointed with the reply by your staff.
