This concept maximises environmental performance, economic efficiency and adds a generous amount of rear free space to extend its range of uses. The result is an EV for various situations: from business use, where maximum payload space is required, to leisure and other individual uses. Measuring 1,350 mm wide by 1,180 mm deep and 1,100 mm high (with a flat floor), the cube-shaped luggage compartment at the rear allows every inch of available space to be used.

Concept PX MiEV

Powered by the new Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrid System, the PX MiEV offers economy above 140.9mpg. Environmental / running performance are balanced by differential motors and Mitsubishi’s all-new S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control). Wheels are powered by two magnet synchronous motors and a 1.6L DOHC MIVEC petrol engine which can power the front wheels and act as a generator. Features include heat reflective glass / paint and individual air conditioners.

Concept Global Small

Planned for March 2012 as a replacement for the Mitsubishi Colt. With either a 1.0 litre or 1.2 litre compact engine the Global Small will achieve top-of-class fuel efficiency, with CO2 emissions in the mid-90g/km range. This is due to combining efficient technologies - Auto Stop & Go, a regenerative braking system, weight trimming, reduced running resistance (in the engine, brakes and tyres) a new-generation CVT transmission and an aerodynamic body shape.

Engineered to be the perfect car for the urban environment, the i-MiEV can park in the tightest spaces, breeze through traffic and can still comfortably accommodate four adults. It costs just £270 to charge for 12,000 miles driving or, if you are using the Economy7 tariff, the cost could be as little as £135. The i-MiEV has a top speed of 81mph, seats four and weighs 1105kg. Recharging takes six hours on a domestic 240v set-up or just half an hour on a rapid charge system.
